Mystery Pictures

Children love the challenge of decoding a picture!  This mystery picture is very easy to create, and tests children's knowledge of a wide variety of math concepts.  To make your own mystery picture, I started with a picture that I drew on a hundreds chart (I've even had children draw their own, then wrote the questions to accompany the other picture) then you write questions to accompany the pictures.  In class I have children answer all the questions first, then I check to make sure they are correct.  Then they may start colouring and discover the mystery!  The math questions can evolve and become more challenging as children's math skills improve.  See an example of a mystery picture we completed.
