Our Canadian Community Bank

The children named the bank the Paris bank

They painted a sign that we hung from the ceiling

On the table we had a cash tray with play Canadian bills, toonies, loonies, Canadian coins, pencils, paper, cheques, withdrawal slips, wallets and purses.

We also had small suit coats for the children to dress up in.

The children learned:
  • writing numerals
  • sorting dollar and coin amounts
  • money exchange at the bank
  • number recognition
  • addition
  • identifying coin and dollar amounts
  • identifying characteristics of coins and relating them to amounts
  • appropriate social language at a bank
