Patterning - I provide the children with
paper ends our school receives from a printer and have the children make pattern
strips that I use for a border on my Halloween bulletin board. To make the
pattern the children use Halloween stamps that I have purchased and use black
and orange stamp pads.

Patterning - Using items collected from
nature the students glued them on to strips to demonstrate a pattern. Older
children like to work with confetti to create their patterns.

Patterning -
Use paper punches to cut out a variety of seasonal shapes. The
students then glue them on to strips to demonstrate various
patterns. To extend this activity, they can translate the
pattern into the "a - b" language descriptors or they
could demonstrate the pattern physically, using body movements
to represent the pattern, like hand-clapping or foot-tapping.
The children may choose to wear their pattern papers as
headbands or crowns. Using student created patterns for your
bulletin borders helps motivate children to create more!
