Jack and Jill record sheet in Math Journal (R)

A.                 Read the nursery rhyme.  Reread it several times, especially if your child is unfamiliar with it.  If your child is able, encourage him/her to recite it from memory.

B.                  Suggest that Jack might need a drink of water after his walk u and his tumble down the hill.  Instead of simply filling the cup with water, use the three measuring tools (the portion cup, the film canister and the pill bottle.)  Record your findings on the chart that is glued in your Math Journal.

If you were to repeat this experiment, would you et the same numbers?  Check.

C.                  Optional:  Let’s try an experiment with vinegar and baking soda.

Put two portion cups of vinegar into the cup and then put in 1 teaspoon of baking soda.  Watch what happens.  Record your child’s responses in his/her Journal.  Try this experiment again but this time increase the amount of vinegar.  What happens?

This time increase the amount of baking soda.  What happens?
